Geriatric Psychiatry and Aging Mental Health

Geriatric Psychiatry and Aging Mental Health focuses on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders in older adults, addressing the complex interaction between aging, brain function, and psychological well-being. This field is essential for improving quality of life in the elderly population, particularly as global life expectancy continues to rise.

The session will explore age-related psychiatric conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, late-life depression, anxiety disorders, delirium, and sleep disturbances. Special attention will be given to early detection, cognitive decline assessment, and differentiation between psychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders.
